Minutes of X-35 UK Class Association Annual General Meeting
Held at 4pm Saturday 10th January 2009
Location: X-Yachts Stand, Excel London Boat Show
Present: Tim Harrington(TH), Sophie Harrington(SH), Iain Smyth(IS), Richard Smyth(RS), Mike Brand(MB), Thorkild Juncker(TJ), Jochem Visser(JV), John Lawrence(JL)
TH welcomed everyone to Excel, we had apologies from David Pinner, Robin Knibb & Mike Crompton.
SH gave the financial statement. The class has £524.75 positive balance, this is due to payment of membership to the International Class Association and lack of payment from many UK X-35s. In order to compete in any X-35 Class Association event at home or abroad you must be a member of a class association.
The 2008 nationals were held in Cork in July where Mike Budd and crew won on the last day from David Pinner and crew on Kiss. Congratulations went to Thorkild and crew on winning Copa Del Ray and coming 3rd in the Worlds in Italy. Cool Runnings is in the process of being sold and should remain based in Hamble.
The Annual Membership Fees were increase to £120 and are now due. Cheques should be made payable to the X-35 Class Association and sent to the following address:

After some discussion the 2009 nationals are going to be held at the X-Yachts Solent Cup in July hosted by the Royal Lymington YC and will of course be sailed under class rules with weigh in. X-Yachts were very much in favour of hosting the nationals at Lymington. Where everyone believed we would be able to get the best turn out of boats. The dates are Thursday 16th July to Saturday 18th July, berthing will be available in Lymington on the Dan Bran Pontoon run by RLYC.
JV has offered to run a tuning session for X-35s on the Wednesday 15th July before the nationals in Lymington, more details to follow.
Ramsgate Week is going to host the UK Eastern Championships as part of Ramsgate Week. The Vice-Admirals Cup clashes with the North Sea regatta so unfortunately we may have to decline the offer of an X-35 Class at that event and look to target another Solent based weekend event for the Southern Area Championships.
We would like to target Cowes Week as another major event for the UK X-35s where we hope to have at least six boats and to level rate at 1.056 but with crew restrictions lifted.
Elections were postponed until the next meeting which will be at the X-Yachts Solent Cup in Lymington, where TH and SH expressed a wish to hand the reigns over to some fellow class members.
