X-35 Scandinavian Cup 2007
Kastrup, Denmark – 28 to 30 September
Sailors from Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Estonia met for two days of exciting racing in strong autumn winds for the first X-35 Scandinavian Cup. It was a Dane, Christian Groth in his X-35 “AVT-People.com” who was the undisputed winner with six firsts and one second place. Christian Soyka from Germany won the silver medal followed by Torsten Bastiansen the X-35 German Champion who jointly had 17 points.
The winner, Christian Groth, commented after his tense racing:
“In 2007 my crew and I took a severe beating, and we almost gave up, but during the German Championship we were fighting fit and almost clenched the title, only to be beaten on the last day. We really wanted a break through at the Scandinavian Cup, and finally succeeded with 6 firsts! We can now rest triumphantly for the rest of the winter.”
The first Scandinavian Cup was a well-organised event thanks to the Kastrup Yacht Club and the many sponsors, who had provided complimentary food, plenty of beer, champagne and a cornucopia of fine prizes.
