X-Yachts Solent Cup, 4 - 6 May 2012
Solent Cup - Update May 1st 2012
We are delighted to announce our after dinner guest speaker will be hosted by world renowned Dee Caffari MBE. In 2006, Dee was the first woman to sail single-handedly and non-stop around the world against the winds and tides. She then went on to be the first woman to circumnavigate the world solo, non-stop and in both directions on completing the Vendee Globe in 2009. By 2011, she was the only woman on Earth to have sailed non-stop around the world three times. She will be delivering an inspirational speech after dinner at the X-Yachts Gala dinner on Saturday 5 May.
We can confirm that Jochem Visser will also be giving complimentary weather and tide briefings for the day ahead, on the mornings before racing on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 May, at the Royal Southern Yacht Club.
With entries still coming in, we look forward to a great event once again this May Bank Holiday.
Due to numerous requests from our racing owners, we have changed the scoring system to IRC for this year’s event, so all yachts in the racing classes need to present us with their IRC certificates in advance of the event. The Family class will be scored using the X-Yachts Denmark rating system.
The entrance fee is held at last year’s level, and includes water and shore based activities as listed below in the Preliminary Program of Events.
£175 for members of the X-Yachts Owners Association, and £200 for non-members who will then automatically become members for the season.
Crew required/offered:
If you are an X-Yacht owner entering the Solent Cup 2012 and are short of crew and looking for crew to race with you during the event, or alternatively if you are a sailor who is looking to help as crew during the regatta, please email your requirements / details to Sally Howard at
